Before you start

Open your own community with access to its course admin tools. This guide uses LaunchBox’s built-in Course Director; you do not need to connect ChatGPT or another external assistant.

You will create a draft, review the outline, and inspect the saved pages before deciding to publish.

From a brief to a visual lesson

  1. Give Director a clear brief

In the admin area, open Courses → Build with Director and start a new course. Explain the audience, learning outcome, teaching points and tone. Describe the visual treatment and where an image would help.

Create a short draft course for beginner community hosts. Teach them to choose a repeatable task, write a clear AI prompt, and review the result. Use a friendly tone, a clear visual layout and a useful illustration. Draft an outline for my review. Keep the course in Draft.
  2. Review the outline before building

Check the brief and choose Draft the outline. Read the proposed modules and lessons, and request changes if needed. Choose Approve outline when the structure is right. In the example, Director built one module with three lessons.

  3. Open the actual lesson pages

Choose Preview in Academy player. Inspect the headings, reading layout and generated opening image. Move between lessons to see the whole course.

  4. Refine a specific lesson

Return to the Director conversation. Name the existing lesson, describe the change, and say what to preserve. In this example we asked for simpler teaching copy and replaced the opening image with a note, a draft and a review checklist.

Refine the existing opening lesson. Keep its place in the course and leave other lessons unchanged. Make the teaching copy more concise, and replace the hero image with a clean illustration of an input note, a draft and a review checklist. Save the revision and keep the course in Draft.
  5. Reopen and review the saved result

Check the saved preview yourself. Review facts, examples, image quality, wording and length. The image changed successfully in this demo, but the copy was still longer than requested. Request another editing pass wherever it helps.

An AI completion message does not confirm that every requested detail was followed. The saved lesson is what your learners will eventually see.

Review before publishing

The example stays in Draft preview. When your own course is ready, check its content, availability and intended audience before publishing. This video does not demonstrate the publishing step.

If the result needs work

The lesson is too long or the image is not right

Ask for a focused revision to the named lesson. Describe the desired result, specify what to keep, and reopen the saved preview after the change. Generated text and images may need more than one pass.

The outline differs from my original request

Review the actual lesson count and structure before approving it. Ask Director to revise the outline if it does not match your teaching plan.

Create a visual course

A LaunchBox lesson can be a designed learning page, with a strong layout and an AI-generated image. In this guide, we will use Course Director to build a small course, refine its opening lesson, and check the saved result. Everything stays in draft.

Start with a clear brief

From Courses, choose Build with Director, then start a new course. Tell Director who you are teaching, what learners should be able to do, and the points the course should cover. You can also describe the tone and visual treatment. Here, we asked for a practical introduction to using AI for community tasks, with an illustration. Review the course brief, then choose Draft the outline.

Review the plan, then build

Check the proposed outline before approving it. In our example, Director organized the material into three short lessons: choose a task, write a prompt, and review the result. Once you approve the outline, Director builds the pages. Open Preview in Academy player to inspect them. The opening lesson now has a generated hero image, a prominent heading, and a designed reading layout.

Refine the image and content

You can keep shaping the lesson through the conversation. We asked Director to revise the existing opening lesson, simplify its teaching copy, and replace the hero with an image of a note, a draft, and a review checklist. Be specific about which lesson to change and what should stay the same. After the revision is saved, reopen the preview to see what actually changed.

Check the actual saved result

Here is the saved revision: the opening image has changed, and the lesson has a new layout. Move between lessons to check the whole experience. Review the wording, examples, image quality, and amount of text yourself. In this example, the copy was still longer than requested, so another editing pass would help. A completion message is a cue to inspect the result. The course is still in Draft preview.

Make the next step clear

Start with a useful learning goal, let Director build a visual draft, then refine it with clear feedback. Choose images that support the lesson, and check every page before publishing. That is the workflow: brief, build, refine, and review.
