Test one change before your launch July 8, 2026 · Hosted by Ian McDonald Turn a project update into a small test of the page, lesson or app your audience will actually use. Leave with one tested visitor journey. BEFORE YOU START Bring one draft page, lesson or app and a safe example to test. If you are changing code, use an isolated branch or copy so you can compare it with a working version. FOLLOW ALONG 1. Choose one journey Describe what a visitor should do first, what they should see and what counts as success. Keep the test to one journey rather than your whole project. 2. Try it with a safe example Open the page from the audience’s point of view. Follow the link, try the media and check the result. Record the actual behavior and any confusing labels. 3. Fix and repeat the same test Make one focused change in a draft or isolated version. Repeat the original steps and compare the result before replacing a working page or sending traffic to it. PRACTICE PROMPTS Adapted exercises. Replace bracketed text and review every result. Write a visitor test This is my intended journey: [journey]. Create a short manual test with the starting page, actions, expected result and signs of failure. Include checking links and media. Use safe example data. Describe a useful bug report Turn these test notes [notes] into a clear issue report with expected behavior, actual behavior, steps to reproduce and the smallest change to investigate. Do not claim the issue is fixed. CHECKLIST [ ] I chose one visitor journey. [ ] I protected the working version. [ ] I tested with safe data. [ ] I recorded the actual result. [ ] I repeated the test after the change. GET UNSTUCK Does an AI-generated app need testing? Yes. Review what it actually does, including access, data handling and the result. A convincing preview does not establish that a workflow works. Where do I ask about a changed screen?
