Make community automation useful May 27, 2026 ยท Hosted by Ian McDonald Plan an assistant that supports a real conversation and gives members a reason to participate. Leave with one useful agent activity to test. BEFORE YOU START Choose a community topic and an example question or resource. Decide what the assistant should contribute and where a person should take over. FOLLOW ALONG 1. Choose a member need Pick a recurring question or a useful tip your members would welcome. State the value in a sentence and choose a source you can check. 2. Define the intervention Write when the assistant should respond and when it should stop. Plan a handoff to a person for uncertain, sensitive or unresolved questions. 3. Review a small trial Generate one sample response and check its accuracy, tone and invitation to participate. Observe whether it helps a person act or answer before increasing activity. PRACTICE PROMPTS Adapted exercises. Replace bracketed text and review every result. Plan a useful contribution My community serves [audience] and often asks [question]. Propose one assistant activity using [source]. Define the trigger, useful output, stopping point and human handoff. Keep it as a draft plan. Review the response Evaluate this assistant response [response] for usefulness, factual support and whether it invites a real human conversation. Remove repetitive filler and identify where a person should step in. CHECKLIST [ ] I chose a real member need. [ ] I supplied a source. [ ] I defined when the assistant stops. [ ] I reviewed a sample response. [ ] I checked whether a person found it useful. GET UNSTUCK Should I copy the reply limits in the old demonstration? Use current controls and choose limits appropriate to your community. The principle is to support people and avoid an unattended loop. Does more activity mean better engagement? Look for useful questions, answers and actions from people. A large number of automated comments does not establish that members are getting value. https://www.launchbox.space/help/launch-and-learn/2026-05-27
